Katelyn is learning Chinese in school,
remember? So there was a party recently at the school for the Chinese New Year. The Chinese immersion students sang some songs and there were some other fun things like the Dragon (except I guess this one was a Lion):
He went all around the room and danced to the drumbeats. They explained the Chinese tradition of waking the dragon and putting money in his mouth.
After the program there were booths and activities. The kids got their faces painted, made lanterns, picked prizes from a Chinese "market", played on a cakewalk, and just had a blast! I am surprised at how much Chinese Katelyn knows after only a few months of half day classes. It's been a fun thing to be involved in as a family but especially for her, she is really thriving in school. Last year she struggled with staying on task and getting her work done. This year she has done so well and we are so proud of her!
Along with me, Brandon, and Tanner, Heather, Elizabeth, and Grandma came to see KK sing.
They tried some Chinese candy and cookies too. What a fun night.
